The Condition Of The Tires

It is not as though you need the tires to be brand new, as you are certainly able to replace them later. The idea is to see if they have developed dry rot. If the tires are in such terrible shape that the bus cannot be driven unless the tires are replaced, you might want to look for another used bus. Usually, dry rot of tires happens when the vehicle has sat for a very long time without being moved. This could be an indicator that there are more things wrong with the bus than just the tires. Rubber hoses might have also become dry and brittle. The fluids in the transmission and motor are likely extremely old and you would not want to start up the bus and have all of that run through the mechanics of the bus.

The Amount Of Rust Under The Bus

It is important to make sure that you or a mechanic that you trust are crawling under the bus in order to get a good look at the bottom of the frame. This is so you can spot signs of rust problems.
